Emily is a Chartered Occupational Psychologist and qualified professional business coach with 15 years experience of working with organisations to help improve performance (in Jan 2004 she was featured in the Independent on Sunday as one of Britain’s 10 leading Occupational Psychologists). After working as an employed Occupational Psychologist within a number of industries, in 2006 she started her own consultancy and now provides business coaching and organisational development to clients including Magnox, the NHS, Standard Life and Bourne Leisure. In January 2009, Emily joined the University as a part-time senior lecturer as she has always believed in sharing her passion for Psychology and encouraging others’ development.
Emily has a track record of working with safety critical organisations to improve safety performance, but the last five years has largely focused on the development of leaders and organisations. This is in part from a conviction that most safety issues are in fact organisational in origin.
She currently spends around half her time coaching senior managers and executives to help them to develop their leadership, within a variety of organisations and industries. She also works with organisations to build relationships, clarify purpose and help them to function in a way that is conducive to optimal performance. This often involves gathering feedback from staff and customers, and facilitating workshops to progress development.
Emily is also currently conducting some research around Leadership with companies who appear on the Times Top 100 Companies to work for list. It is planned to publish this in the near future.
