Anne Dawson, Head of Media School
Anne has spent most of her working life as a broadcast journalist, with both the BBC and ITV in radio and television. Her first job was on a weekly newspaper and she has written on a variety of subjects for a variety of publications from The Sunday Times to Yachting Monthly. She was part of the longest running presenter partnership in ITV News, presenting Central News with Wesley Smith for 15 years.
Her first degree was in English at Exeter University and she has a Masters in Education from the University of Oxford.
She is now Head of the Media School at the University of Gloucestershire, but still teaches TV News production to undergraduate and postgraduate students. She has carried out research into the role of Journalism degrees in preparing students for careers in the industry.
Anne would be delighted to supervise media research and practice projects (MA by Research, MRes, MPhil, PhD) that are focused upon broadcast journalism and the journalism industry.
