The School of Humanities takes pride in delivering a range of stimulating, engaging and topical courses across all its subject areas.
Our aim is to provide an education in the humanities that has traditional breadth and depth, but also recognises the contribution of our subject areas to cultural development, active citizenship, regional and local identities, and national and international economies.
Based at the attractive Francis Close Hall campus, the School of Humanities has the use of a technology-efficient Learning Centre, class-room based audio-visual/IT systems and a dedicated e-learning hub. The school also offers a range of traditional resources and approaches which, combined with the latest technology to support student learning and assessment, provides courses which are up-to-date and distinctive. Staff members are all dedicated tutors and highly-qualified researchers, many with national and international reputations. There is a significant postgraduate student cohort in Humanities. The school benefits from local events such as the Cheltenham Literature Festival, and the proximity of Stratford-upon-Avon, Oxford and other cultural centres contributes to the dynamic atmosphere of debate and discussion.
