The University of Gloucestershire now provides a new service for the staff and students, based in the sports therapy clinic at Oxstalls Campus.
BSc Sports Therapy students provide massage, taping and strapping, examination and assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and prevention of injury advice for the University. Supervised by experienced Sports Therapy staff this is a free service for everyone at the University.

Sports Therapy is an aspect of healthcare that is specifically concerned with the prevention of injury and rehabilitation of the patient back to optimum levels of functional, occupational and sports specific fitness, regardless of age or ability.
It utilises the principles of sport and exercise sciences incorporating physiological and pathological processes to prepare the participant for training, competition and where applicable work.
The University of Gloucestershire BSc Sports Therapy students currently work with:
- Gloucester RFC
- Ledbury Town FC
- Filton College women’s football club
- Cheltenham Town FC
...and many other local sports teams as well as providing pitchside first aid for our University sports teams. We have also worked with Great Britain women’s University ice hockey team, Swindon Town FC and provided first aid and massage for the winter and summer Tough Guy events.
