This single honours top up degree for health professionals is designed as a flexible programme to help meet your individual requirements, whether you are starting in a new post, returning to nursing practice or in an established role.

There are a number of study options available to you depending on where you are in your career and, through its flexible modular structure you can study at your own pace over a one or two year basis. Please find overleaf, a number of examples outlining some of these options.

Focused on learning in the workplace much of your work experience and learning will be used towards your academic credit and minimal attendance at University will be required. A number of different learning styles will be used which include interactive learning, peer group work, problem based learning and reflection, and self-directed study.

Can I do first contact assessment?
Yes you can. You will set out the clinical competencies you need to achieve in the work-based learning and clinical practice development module and will be supported in achieving them in practice and through workshops at the University.

I am a newly appointed practice nurse? I want to manage diabetes care.
You can do the work-based learning and clinical practice development module as well as the long term conditions module with reference to specific learning outcomes for diabetes.

I have just qualified and have my first staff nursing post I want to consolidate my learning in practice?
Start by completing you Flying Start England portfolio. You will get the credit for that experiential learning in practice you are doing already with a designated preceptor for support. Details of modules can be found by visiting: www.glos.ac.uk/courses
