Each year the Outreach team recruit over 100 student ambassadors from across all campuses in a diverse range of subject areas. We are keen to ensure that all areas have student representation at open days, applicant days and school visits.
Ambassadors will work primarily with the outreach team but are also available for members of staff to book to help with events across the University that are deemed to promote HE and/or the University of Gloucestershire.
Making the most of Student Ambassadors

Type of work:
Ambassadors may only be booked to support or assist with work that promotes the University. They are employed as ‘ambassadors of the University experience’ therefore any work they undertake should fall within this remit. Please click here to see the Ambassador job description for further details.
Who will you get?
Although a great effort will be made where appropriate to secure ambassadors within the relevant subject area, this may not always be possible, in which case the member of staff requesting the booking will be advised of this.
Meeting and Briefing Ambassadors:
The appointed member of staff should be available to meet ambassadors at the beginning of their shift to provide a detailed briefing of their tasks for the day. This is essential as although all ambassadors will be thoroughly trained the work available is wide and varied.
Length of shifts:
Ambassadors can be hired to work over any period, however it should be noted that any ambassador working over 6 hours must be provided with a minimum 30 minute break.
Shifts of one hour or less can often prove difficult to cover, therefore it may be suggested that a minimum shift of two hours will have a greater attraction to ambassadors.
Cost code:
Ambassadors employed for events organised with or through the University Outreach/Admissions Department will be funded by the those departments. All other areas of work must provide department budget codes at the point of booking for ambassador payments.
Ambassadors working as part of this scheme are entitled to financial bonuses dependent on the amount of work they undertake. It is therefore essential that ALL requests for ambassadors come through these channels. Therefore arrangements made directly with students which bypass these channels will not be considered towards the student’s final tally, jeopardising their potential bonus.

The more notice given when booking ambassadors the better; however we ask for a minimum of 2 weeks notice. Although we will do our best to facilitate requests received with less than 3 weeks, we will be unable to guarantee availability.
