It is estimated that at any given time 1 in 4 people will be experiencing a mental health problem. Students are more likely to experience mental health difficulties than other young people. No one need be alone with this experience.
Are issues of mental health and wellbeing getting in the way of you studying and enjoying life at university?
• Do you feel nervous, stressed, or on edge?
• Are you worrying too much about different things?
• Have you got trouble concentrating, sleeping or eating regularly? Are you anxious or depressed?
• Does your mood seem to vary a lot?
• Is your social life too full on or empty at the moment?
• Are you drinking too much too often?
• Is it hard to cope generally?
Nuala Dyer and Tina Brotherton, Mental Health and Wellbeing Advisers are available to support you with a range of mental health and well being issues within a confidential service. This is achieved by listening to what you have to say, offering information, developing coping strategies and or problem solving.
In negotiation with you, Nuala and Tina can also liaise with others, such as the university’s Disability, Dyslexia and Learning Support Advisors, Counsellors and or NHS staff, such as your GP. You may also continue to meet regularly.
If you would like to arrange an appointment to meet with Nuala or Tina please ring the Administrator for Student Support Services Annette Brill on 01242714542 or email mhw@glos.ac.uk or use the links below.
Most people find that in getting in touch early they avoid more complicated issues in the longer term.
