If you are currently studying at undergraduate or college level, you are eligible to apply to participate in the University of Gloucestershire's international summer schools. You are eligible whether you are from the UK, EU or from overseas.
English Language
To get the most out of your summer school experience, you will need a good standard of English. This is particularly important if you are intending to take a summer school programme for academic credit. If your first language is not English you are required to have a have IELTS of 6.0 (with a minimum 5.5 in writing) or equivalent. You will need to enclose a copy of your certificates with your application or supply proof of an equivalent level of ability.
Visa Requirements
If you do not have a passport from an EU/EEA country, you will need a Student Visitor Visa to study on this course. Please note that we will check and take copies of all passports and visas on arrival.
Following payment of course fees, you will be given an official offer letter to use to get your visa. The visa application process will depend on whether or not you are a ‘visa national’.
Visa Nationals are people who need to get entry clearance before they travel to the UK. A full list of visa nationals is available here. You will need to apply to the British Embassy or High Commission in your country for a Student Visitor visa before you travel. Full details of the application process, including the relevant application form, are available on the UKBA Website here.
Non-Visa Nationals are people who do not need entry clearance to travel to the UK, and whose nationality is not listed on the link above. You do not need to apply for a visa before you travel. When you arrive at the airport, you must show the Immigration Officer your official offer letter from the University of Gloucestershire and ask for a Student Visitor Visa. It is important that your passport is stamped with ‘SV’ (Student Visitor), as you cannot study as a general visitor.
If you have any questions about the visa application process, you can contact an International Student Adviser email isa@glos.ac.uk, phone +44 (0) 1242 614300.
