UNESCO Commissioned Research on Culture and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD)

In September 2011, the International Reseach Institute in Sustainability (IRIS) was commissioned a new research initiative which sought to bring together two important UNESCO concerns: ESD and Culture. The UNESCO Project “Linking Culture, Education and Sustainability: Good Practices and Experiences from Around the World” was established as a contribution to the UN Decade in Education for Sustainable Development.
IRIS is pleased to inform you that the Project results and examples of good practice can now be accessed on the new website:
http://insight.glos.ac.uk/SUSTAINABILITY/UNESCOCULTURE/.

The website offers an opportunity for policy-makers and practitioners to learn more about the relationships between ESD, cultural diversity and intercultural dialogue. It showcases a wide range of projects, from across the globe, that are rich in detail and innovative in terms of how they have integrated culture components in ESD.
