National Symposium: ‘Rethinking the Final Year Undergraduate Dissertation’
22 June 2011, 10.30-15.45
General Purpose Hall, Park Campus,
Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, GL50 2RH
This symposium will explore ways in which we can rethink the final dissertation, but which retain a significant element of research and deliver key graduate attributes. Some departments have introduced separate capstone projects in their final year courses either instead of, or in addition to, the dissertation. These take many forms which are innovative or creative in the context of their discipline or institution, and may include group, work-oriented and community-based projects. There can also be novel ways of disseminating the findings – via exhibitions, undergraduate research conferences and other forms of public engagement. The symposium will be an interactive fun event stimulated by a few short talks from experts and with plenty of opportunities for discussion.
We are offering this conference free of charge, including refreshments and lunch, to both internal and external delegates, but because of that places are restricted on a first come basis. However, delegates who register but do not attend on the day will be charged £25.
To register please email or post the registration form to Sue Hendzel to arrive by Monday 6th June 2011
Address: University of Gloucestershire, Francis Close Hall Campus, Swindon Road, Cheltenham, GL20 4AZ
If you find you are no longer able to attend please let Sue Hendzel know by 12 noon on Friday 17th June 2011 to avoid the non-attendance penalty.
